Semih YAĞCIOĞLU is a PhD candidate at Hacettepe University working at the intersection of Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing where he focuses on Multimodal Machine Comprehension. He is also a Group Lead at STM where he works on applied research problems using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods. Semih completed his undergraduate studies at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Computer Engineering Department and got his Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Middle East Technical University.
Title: Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in Vulnerability Management
Summary: Vulnerabilities are system weaknesses often caused by programming errors or configuration issues. These weaknesses can be exploited by hackers, which can disrupt systems and businesses as well as expose sensitive or personal information. Each day several new vulnerabilities are discovered and disclosed but the publicly disclosed vulnerability information is accessible for all, including hackers. The systems remain exposed until a vulnerability is discovered and finally remedied. This is a race between hackers and security professionals. Using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods, it is possible to predict which vulnerabilities can be exploited and how to detect these vulnerabilities through generating vulnerability detection scripts using Neural Networks. In this talk, we will cover the basics of Vulnerabilities and how AI based approaches can be used to automatically detect Vulnerabilities in systems and help security teams to quickly act on the most severe threats.
